Online collections

The museum’s collection  comprises various sub-collections. Being digital and available online, they open the way to a range of new possibilities. Visitors can just browse or go straight to pictures and/or information relating to a specific item or subject.

The online catalogues are intended mainly for two groups:

  • Members of the public who are interested in history and economics
  • Secondary school pupils, students, teachers, and researchers

At present, three complete collections are available online:

Billet de 2000 BEF à l'effigie de Victor Horta

Belgian banknotes (1851-2002)

The “Belgian banknote” app traces 151 years of the history of Belgian franc banknotes, from 1851 to 2002, showing the banknotes in circulation in any particular year. You can select a particular year, banknote denomination, theme, or the artist who designed the note.
