The museum of the National Bank of Belgium will be exceptionally open on the 16th September for the car-free Sunday in Brussels. Why not pay us a visit to find the link with the National Bank of Belgium on this special day?
Watch original footage of the first car-free Sundays during the seventies of the previous century and discover the similarities and differences between the past and the present. For example: did you know that the original version had nothing whatever to do with the environment? Hauling cars of the roads was more rooted in dire economic necessity and the need to restrict fuel consumption. Car-free Sundays were just one of the new ideas to try and cope with runaway inflation and rocketing oil prices. But the National Bank of Belgium also had its role to play.
Come and find out!
