New information sheets in the teacher’s room

The on-line teacher’s room of the NBB-museum offers a whole series of information sheets about economic terms and concepts related to the missions and activities of the National Bank of Belgium. The series is now supplemented with three new documents.

The three new sheets deal with the interbank payments (n. 27 [1]), the European payment system TARGET2 (n. 28 [2]) and the securities settlement (n. 29 [3]). What happens after I have given the order to pay? And what about my payments abroad? Which process does my order to sell the securities I inherited some years ago from my grandmother, start off? And does the National Bank of Belgium intervene in all this? Make a visit to the teacher’s room [4] to find the answers.

At the start of a new school year ahead, we are ready to receive the numerous school groups in the museum. The focus of the guided tour is on the theme of money, in the past and in the present, and on the activities of the central bank. The tours are free of charge, but must be booked in advance. Reservations can be made by phone (32 2 221 22 06) by mail (museum@nbb.be) or by filling in the form on the website [5]. »
